Thank You for Supporting the Barton

Lots of you who have enjoyed a silent move with organ accompaniment or enjoyed an organ prelude before a live music performance, showed up at the theatre for Tim Mesun’s All-Star Band Barton benefit concert. Thank you! Tim on keys, harmonica and vocals was joined on stage by the usual suspects –  Desiree Walowinski on vocals, John Grewe on drums,  Donny Osier on bass, and Paul Butcher on trumpet. The band performed a mix of Mesun’s originals,  plus some pretty cool covers, including “Train, Train” by Blackfoot, “Chameleon” by Herbie Hancock, “Last Dance” by Donna Summer, and “Color My World” by Chicago.

Not only did those in attendance contribute to our ability to maintain our nearly-100-year-old pipe organ, they also got to experience a memorable show by some outstanding local musicians.  One of the highlights of the show was was Desiree’s performance of “Dreams of You” an original song written by Tim in loving memory of his late Mom, Elizabeth. It was a beautiful song, beautifully interpreted by Desi.

Looking after our Barton organ (or “Grand Old Lady” as she is affectionately known) costs us about $3,500 a year in maintenance, repair, and tuning costs.  So again, a huge thank you to those of you came along to the concert and contributed to to the preservation of something very special. Pssst! If you were there, please tell you friends how good it was and encourage them to come along to the show at the end of July in 2026.
