9/11 Day of Service

Volunteers Make HIT Sparkle!

Thanks to a devoted and hard-working group from the Zion and Salem Lutheran churches, our glorious HIT was sparkling when the crowd arrived for the Sixtiesmania show on the evening of Sunday 10 September. And that was no mean feat if you’d seen the state of the theatre on Sunday morning –  the cement dust generated by the Lowell Street sidewalk project had settled on every horizontal surface in the place – arm rests, counter tops, stairs, railings, and floors. The cleaning crew came to us as part of the Lutheran church’s Gods Work, Our Hands program, and was supported in part by a grant (for cleaning supplies) from The Michigan Community Service Commission, through the 9/11 National Day of Service initiative.
