HIT Plans for the Future

Ironwood Theatre board members, staff, key volunteers, and representatives from the City Commission and Chamber of Commerce recently participated in a series of strategic planning sessions. Facilitated by Amy Quinn of Grow & Lead Community and Youth Development, those sessions examined our existing (2019-2023) strategic plan, assessed the progress we’ve made on the goals articulated in that plan, then set a new five-year plan for the period 2023-2028. Quinn facilitated the preparation of the earlier plan, so it made sense to have somebody familiar with our organization and goals help us to evaluate our progress. Commenting on the planning sessions, board president Zona Wick said “It was great to have Amy back at the theatre again, helping us continue our forward progress.”

Also commenting on the preparation of the plan was Theatre Manager Bruce Greenhill “…with our 100th birthday on the not-too-distant horizon it is important to make sure we continue to move forward with a comprehensive and detailed plan” he said.”

The meetings were just part of the process of developing the new five-year plan. Quinn will now take the notes and input collected at the in-person meetings, provide a summary for board and staff review and feedback, then write up the new plan.

Contracting with the Grow & Lead consultant to lead the strategic planning work, was supported in part by a Professional and Organizational Development (POD) re-grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, administered by the Copper County Community Arts Council.
