"Five Flicks" - The Cradle Will Rock

Come join us as we explore various aspects of the history of America at work through popular film.  A subsidiary event to the MI Humanities Council presentation of The Way We Worked Exhibit at the Downtown Art Place (DAP).  Admission to TWWW movies is just $5.00 each

The movies to be shown are:

  • Chaplin's Modern Times: The Little Tramp struggles to survive in the modern, industrialized world.
  • The Civilian Conservation Corps: The PBS documentary tells the story of the CCC and how this New Deal program put three million men to work.
  • Desk Set: Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy RomCom. Computer salesman and librarian clash over the computerization of a TV network's research department. Presented in cooperation wirth the Ironwood Carnegie Library. Check out the display at the library in the weeks prior to the movie screening.
  • The Molly Maguires: Sean Connery and Richard Harris play Irish immigrant miners who retaliate against harsh PA mining conditions with sabotage and murder.  Also stars Samantha Eggar.
  • The Cradle Will Rock: Directed by Tim Robbins, the film focuses on a leftist musical drama and attempts to stop its production. The star-studded cast includes Susan Sarandon, Hank Azaria, Bill Murray, John Cusack, Joan Cusack and Vanessa Redgrave in this true story of politics and art in the 1930s. 


Silver Express

Hurley High School's Silver Express will offer the final concert of their 2015 tour at the Historic Ironwood Theatre on Friday May 15 at 7 p.m. So if you missed their previous concerts in the school auditorium or during their recent four city tour, here's your last chance to catch this exciting show by a group of remarkably gifted performers. Members include, from left: first row - Tandrell Foster, Emily Strand, Skylar Traczyk and Susan Walesewicz; second row - director Ryckie Holm, Reggie Kelly, Danielle Irons, Rachel Fedora and Reilly Manzer; and third row - Dakota Rice, Tom Lardinois, Dominic Pozzani and Dustin Kokely.

And if you like to hear gifted young performers, don't miss Accent! the show choir from Ironwood's Luther L Wright High School in one of four concerts at Theatre North on Friday May 15th AND Saturday May 16th.

So come on out and support our kids - you'll be blown away by their energy, talent and showmanship!

And a special thank-you to Ryckie Holm, musical director of Silver Express and Denise Woodward, LLW choir teacher and Accent! director.  There are no words to properly express the community's thanks for the time, care and love you invest in helping to draw the very best from our young performers.

Ironwood Area School's High School and Junior High bands will perform their spring concert on the Ironwood Theatre stage. These young and talented musicians from Luther L. Wright will once again treat audiences to the excellent performances we have come to expect from our young Ironwood performers, under the caring tutelage and expert leadership of Mr. Steve Boyd, Music Director Extroardinaire!

Tickets only available through the LLW office or at the theatre door one hour before show time.
