The Cat’s Pajamas

Show Dates:

Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014

The Cat's Pajamas Vocal Band is a five man a cappella group that has toured the world since 2005 and recently appeared on NBC's The Sing-Off. Founded by Brian Skinner and Nate Mendl, The Cat's Pajamas entered the national spotlight when they placed in the top 10 while performing their Oreo Cookie Jingle for Randy Jackson. After years of performing on cruise ships as guest entertainers, The Cat's Pajamas now perform over 200 shows per year in Branson, MO and throughout the United States.

Through their Music In Schools Tour the Cats perform choral clinics and work with high school music students to emphasize the importance of staying involved with choir and band. Partial proceeds from each show get donated back to the music department at the school they are working with. Over the years The Cat's Pajamas have raised more than $50,000 for high school music programs in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Conga Se Menne

Show Dates:

Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014

Finnish Reggae! While the lyrics are geared for fun, the quality of their sound is no laughing matter. Conga Se Menne live and work along the chilly invigorating banks of Lake Superior and their mastery of melodic syncopation is second to none. Original songs carry the flavor of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in lyrical silliness and the spirit of hearty residence in musical excellence. Finnish lyrics (hyvää kesää, baha poika,) predominate, as does the yooper-accented crooning so familiar to local fans.

The musical style of Conga Se Menne is impossible to pigeon hole, running the gamut of Blues, Funk, Latin, Reggae, Rock, Caribbean beats and ethnic Finnish sounds. Island beat percussion blends smoothly with mellifluos keyboards, sonorous horns and big shouldered guitar work - all mixing with an influence of traditional styles. Most of the music tells of good times and an appreciation of the finer, intangible aspects of living life on your own terms and not taking yourself too seriously.

Free concert as part of the SISUFest Ski Race Awards Ceremony!
